The FilExile Team came up with this tool for all the users out there who want an incredibly easy to use solution for deleting stubborn files and/or folders. If you can’t get rid of a file or folder the traditional way, turn to FilExile for help. This simple tool is sure to get rid of these stubborn files/folders.

The FilExile installation file is less than 1MB in size, so downloading it, even on a lousy internet connection, will take but a moment. A setup wizard will ask you to pick between a full installation, a compact installation, and a custom installation. Go with the custom installation and you will get to choose if, on top of the FilExile.exe, you want shortcuts on the desktop and in the start menu, add to PATH, and add shell extension.

The word I would choose to describe FilExile’s interface is “simplistic”. You are presented with a Browse button to select the file or folder you want to delete. You are presented with the option to switch between Directory and File Mode, and you are presented with a Delete button. It’s all very simplistic and very easy to figure out.

Say you have a stubborn directory that you want to get rid of. With Directory Mode selected, hit the Browse button to locate that Folder. All you have to do next is hit the Delete button. If you have a stubborn file that you want to get rid of, select File Mode, hit Browse to locate the file, then hit the Delete file to get rid of it.

You don’t have to part with your money to use the FilExile application – the team behind it created it as a free tool developed for the open source community. If you want to part with your money though, then you must know that you can donate to support the application’s development.

When all else fails and you can’t get rid of a file or folder, let FilExile lend a helping hand. This tool is designed to get rid of stubborn files and folders.

Pros

You can choose between a full, lite and custom installation. You can choose to add a “Delete with FilExile” option to the right click context menu. The application’s interface is very easy to figure out. Use FilExile to remove stubborn files and folders that refuse to be removed via traditional methods. FilExile is free.

Cons

Tried this on two different Windows 7 PCs: when I tried to open the Options menu, I was presented with an error message.
